Farewell to Longtime CEO, Caroline Ruschell
It is bittersweet to share that longtime CEO Caroline Ruschell is stepping into a new chapter after 12 years of dedicated leadership at Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kentucky, as her family relocates out of state. We are filled with gratitude for the lasting impact Caroline has made across our organization and the entire CAC network in Kentucky. Since 2013, Caroline helped strengthen collaboration across the Commonwealth’s multidisciplinary teams, guided important updates to state standards for Child Advocacy Centers, and supported improvements to Medicaid reimbursement for medical exams. Under her leadership, CAC Kentucky also enhanced its governance model and helped grow the capacity of Kentucky’s 15 Children’s Advocacy Centers, expanding services to reach more than 13,500 children and caregivers each year.
“On behalf of everyone associated with Children’s Advocacy Centers of Kentucky, I wish Caroline and her family all the best. Simply put, Caroline is an exceptional leader of people, and we are incredibly sad to see her go,” said Gary McCollum, President of the Board of Directors.
“Serving the Children’s Advocacy Center network in Kentucky has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I am thankful for the trust and support of the 15 CAC Executive Directors, and the Board and staff at CAC Kentucky,” said Ruschell.
As we look ahead, our mission remains strong and our commitment is unwavering. Laura Kretzer, chief strategy officer, is serving as interim CEO while the Board of Directors reviews candidates for the organization’s next leader, which is expected to be announced in early 2026. With an incredible network of partners and advocates behind us, CAC Kentucky is energized for what comes next and deeply thankful for the foundation Caroline helped build.
